What is CDS?

CDS is an acronym for Content Delivery System and was developed by Creative Acceleration for one purpose: Manage the deployment of files (small and large) to clients with utter simplicity.

Like many others, we were tired of:

  • Providing two versions of a video, one zipped so they can download it and one that they can view in a browser
  • Dealing with the possibility that the receiving end didn't have an FTP client
  • Having to email a URL to a file every time one was posted for download
  • Having it take longer than 2 seconds to set up accounts for clients/projects just to send them a file slightly too large to email
  • Making window burns with visible timecode
  • Answering what the TRT or version numbers are of a video
  • Getting notes back from a client on a video and not knowing exactly which video they were looking at or exactly which shot a note pertained to

CDS addresses all of these and more. Unlike other solutions that provide some of these solutions, CDS is the only one that can do all of them.

CDS is the only solution that supports:

  • Dynamically embedding media into HTML pages
  • An unlimited number of folders/files
  • Both "Download" and "Review" options for videos
  • File uploads in excess of 10 Gigabytes
  • Dynamic image previews
  • Every filetype known to man including Zip, SWF, WMV, AIFF, MP3, MOV, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HTML and more.
  • Timecode notes and logging for Quicktime videos with one-click sending
  • Completely skin-able for any design.
  • Client accounts can be created and a file can start to be uploaded in about 3-5 seconds.
  • Displaying of metadata attached to Quicktime videos

Many of our clients use CDS when working with us and sometimes express a desire to have a system similar on their site. If you are interested in CDS, please contact us to discuss your needs.

CDS requires an Apache web server running PHP 5 with GD lib installed.
